As a centre for award-winning training, the DESMOND Programme now has a number of training days and options available:
DESMOND Core training, a 1-day course which looks at the philosophy, theories and behaviours that underpin all of our programme. This training is the first step in Educator training. Please scroll down for dates and application forms
Programme-Specific training, a 1-day course which introduces each Educator to the curriculum and resources they will need to deliver their chosen programme to patients. Please scroll down for dates and programme available as well as the relevant application form. We currently offer programme-specific training in three group programmes
Type2 Diabetes Management (Formally called Newly Diagnosed & Foundation (NDF)) - our programme for those with type 2 diabetes - more information can be found here
Let’s Prevent Diabetes (LPD) - our 6-hour group for those with pre-diabetes/very high risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the future - if you would like training in Lets Prevent please email uhl-tr.desmondnationalprogramme@nhs.net
Walking Away from Diabetes (WAfD) - our three-hour group for those at risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the future with a key focus on increasing physical activity through walking - if you would like training in Walking Away please email uhl-tr.desmondnationalprogramme@nhs.net

Training places can be reserved for a maximum period of 2 weeks, during which time a completed application form and accompanying Purchase Order is required – a name can be omitted if you are still recruiting to a post. If an application form is not received during that time, then the DESMOND Collaborative reserve the right to cancel the reserved place.
